Peanut Bars

  • 1 cup shortening (1/2 butter or oleo / 1/2 crisco)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs - separated
  • 1 tsp cold water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 package chocolate chips (6 oz)
  • 1 cup salted peanutes with shells
  1. Cream shortening.
  2. Add 1/2 cup white sugar + 1/2 cup brown sugar.
  3. Add yolks with water and vanilla.
  4. Add flour with salt.
  5. Put in 9 x 13 pan.
  6. Then springlk chocolate chips on top of dough
  7. Pres chips into dough
  8. Beat egg whites stiff
  9. Add 1 cup brown sugar
  10. Spread on dough
  11. Spread on peanuts - on egg white mixture
  12. Bake 30 minutes @ 350
  13. Cut while warm
